Remarks:

The flowers on the top of the compact shows a technique known as “reverse carving”. They are carved at the back of the transparent lucite and finished with acrylic or oil paint. It looks as if the objects are floating inside the lucite when seen from the top. This was a popular technique applied in factories and hand made jewellery in the mid 20th century.
